Carbone Zéro6 is developing the first regional biochar production value chain on the French Riviera by converting locally generated green waste into biochar through thermochemical conversion (pyrolysis).
The biochar produced will be used both to develop low-carbon construction materials and to improve soil water retention and resilience in the face of climate change. Designed as a circular economy solution, the project creates multiple positive environmental impacts.
By permanently sequestering biogenic carbon, Carbone Zéro6 contributes to climate change mitigation and supports the region’s transition toward carbon neutrality. In addition, because pyrolysis is an exothermic process, the production facility is energy self-sufficient and will generate renewable heat that can be supplied to neighboring industries, further reducing the territory’s carbon footprint.
