France’s first space technology incubator was presented at the latest exhibition in Le Bourget. The ESA BIC Sud France, which is being funded by the European Space Agency and supported by the Aerospace Valley and Pégase business clusters, is also receiving back-up from the following bodies: CEEI Théogone and the Midi-Pyrénées incubator (Toulouse), CEEI Technowest (Bordeaux), ESTIA (Biarritz) and the PACA-Est incubator. Technical support is being provided by the Centre National des Etudes Spatiales.
The aim of the incubator is to develop technologies originating in the space industry for use in non space-related applications by pooling support from the aforesaid bodies and agencies in the set-up of innovative companies.
